excuse me ma'am

There are only a few times I don't mind being called ma'am. One of those exceptions occurred yesterday as I was leaving a grocery store. The nice clerk ran after me yelling "Ma'am, excuse me, ma'am, you forgot one of your bags." Sometimes my memory works as well as I feel when I'm called ma'am.

I don't mind ma'am so much. Otherwise they'd be shouting, "miss" which seems more insulting or "lady" which is kinda redneck or "hey you" which is kinda casual.

In your case maybe they should have yelled, "Hey idiot! You forgot your bag!"

Hah.

My favourite is when people try to pronounce my last name. It's always good for a laugh. Sometimes I help them out but if I need some amusement I let them struggle with it.

Aisy - I guess you're almost old enough to be called ma'am.

I've spent my life with 2 very easy last names - but there must be some quirky British way I pronounce my current one that makes some people question what I'm saying or ask how it's spelt. I didn't think I talked that funny. Dani - I can see why people would have trouble with yours - it looks like it should rhyme with pizzaz - which you obviously have a lot of anyway.

Yeah, I kinda love when people pronounce it rhyming with pizzazz. I like to use my jazz hands when describing it that way too. I tell Robb all the time I wish our name was pronounced that way, he doesn't find it as funny as me though.
