go green

Last month I decided to get "greener." My roommates and I signed up for our local recycling program, I purchased canvas shopping bags and now I want to do more. As silly as it sounds, it makes me feel better. I was so stoked to find out that HP attaches a self-addressed envelope to their ink replacements so you can send back your old one for recycling! Thank you HP. So my goal for 2008 is to find even more ways to be earth friendly. I also want to cook more and eat healthier (that's why I want to start cooking). We'll see how well I do on that last one. And maybe, just maybe, I'll run a full marathon.

So, if you have one, what do you resolve to do differently?

*Have I ever told my readers how amazing Jo is? She's the genius behind the very cool New Year's Eve photo.

I am a genius aren't I? Ok, it was jessica's idea. I confess. I'm glad i got to see you. I'm sad it wasn't longer. Your shopping bags are funny, but noble.

ha ha. thanks for the support sweets. i used them three times yesterday! do you know how hard it is to get it through cashiers heads that i DON'T want their plastic bag? it was jessica's idea, which was very cool, but you knew how to take it!

My goal for this year is to try and be less sarcastic and cynical. I'm not sure if that will last very long or if I *really* want/need to do it. But I figured it was worth a try. How do you even measure something like that?

Good luck with the shopping bags. The key is to remember them. I went last night and was so ticked off to realize I left the stack of bags by the door.

Isn't going green totally against all that Utah County stands for?? ;-)

dani, the biggest problem has been forgetting my bags. however, i now keep them in my car which i hope helps. as for your goal, i'm sure family would be happy to tell you if you're keeping it. but life might be a little boring if you give up the sarcasm. if dad couldn't do it, well then, i wish you luck.

mark, you'd think with all the babies running around here, folks would want to recycle to decrease their garbage load! i'm going to show them that green is good. (as is being old and single!)

Congrats on the push to go green. I am on 100% wind energy and use my "green" grocery bags. I also usually walk to the grocery store (but that is just because it is mere blocks away).

My goal this year is to think a little more before I speak.

sara... i'm impressed.

i think i need your goal too. i think i would fail at it though.

my goal is to still have the same number of offspring at the end of 2008 as at the beginning of 2008 - i.e. no more babies, and keep the four I have healthy and happy (and not strangled due to momma frustration!)

ha ha... that's awesome. good luck with that one!

Very cool. Yeah, I've been working on going green too. I feel better also when I do it.

If you do run a marathon, I don't recommend the spicy pasta sauce from the Brick Oven the night before. It may not sit well and then it's a long 4 hours running from bathroom station to bathroom station!

ewww... why would you ever do the spicy pasta? crazy i say!
