This picture is for my sister. She loves my jaunty smile and pose. I think she's just jealous she wasn't part of the '88 Olympic opening ceremonies. I can't decide which I like more, the silver high tops or the blue beret.
*There may be a brief hiatus on posting this week due to more important endeavours.

This is a masterpiece. Seriously, its right up there with the best portraits of the era. The feathers just bring it all together.
you didn't mention that your other sister joins you in this bit of memorabilia
good luck with those 'important endeavours'
Wow. I can't turn away. This is amazing. Thank you for revealing this for all to see. The world needs to see this.
Let it be known I am not the other kid in the picture.
This photo has never failed to crack me up. It's the jaunty pose and the smile that really kills me. Aislinn never met a camera she didn't like. Ha.
i will say that i distinctly remember the camera guy posing me that way but yes, it's still hilarious. i also remember at the age of 5 or so that dad told me not to smile so much/big in my photo. guess it didn't stick!
i'm glad dainon and sherpa can enjoy a picture that has been enjoyed for years in our family. ah the '80s. (for the show we put the feathers in legwarmers and pulled them out while we ran out of the stadium, waving them wildly). some folks watching the show yanked my sister's out of her hand. guess they wanted a souvenir, regardless of it not being theirs to take.
Agggg, kill me now! How cruel to expose me in this way! Actually, I'm just glad that I wasn't wearing my coke bottle glasses I wore back then. I still have that outfit somewhere down in the basement. I should go and try it on.
sorry you got caught in the crossfire dor. i meant only to embarrass myself.
Yeah, I had to tell her it was up for the world to see.
I have to state for the record that I am in possession of Aislinn's outfit. It is currently in a closet in my basement. It has to be put far, far away as it's so blinding.
I didn't realize someone stole a feather out of Dor's hand! Mean. I'm thinking she was upset by that.
I'd have layed a Gold Medal whipping on the feather snatchers if I'd have seen it. We got to our seats in the stadium and it was minus 30, and some early arriving villains had stolen the souvenir momentos put out at each seat. We learned quickly to hold the Oly crowd in contempt. Especially the Euro trash who passed as Olympic aristocracy. Bunch of freebie sniffers.
You two had rehearsed for the Opening Ceremonies for about eight months if I remember and had to take a lot of guff from prima donna dance co-ordinators. Ah, well, memories are made of thus. How many people you know have performed in the Olympics?
correction - they rehearsed for 18 months
lot's of kids had their feathers stolen. people just kept grabbing for them. dumb jerks. and dad, i have yet to meet another person who performed in an olympic opening cermonies. not quite as glam as being an athlete of course.
Shizz... you guys had to do that for 18 months? Crazy. I like how I was so busy being a teenager I barely recall this. I think I was ignoring you guys that year(s). Did you guys have to audition? Funny.
yup... ted never made it, and i think i was originally an "alternate." dor was the only natural talent...
18 months, freezing cold practices on school football fields as it got closer. and the crazy thing is i couldn't even show you one move we did. i remember what the basic concept was but no actual steps. ha ha.
No one stole my feathers. In the end, I gave one away (years later) and kept one. I had witnessed everyone getting theirs stolen as we waved them proudly exiting the stadium.
I remember how embarassed I was at the auditions. They had you make up your own dancing to music. Like "fly like a butterfly and be a scary monster" and stuff like that.
