cars, cars, cars

There have been many vehicles that have caused an aversive reaction within me. Past offenses have been Hummers, Aztecs, Ponys and multiple sports cars (such as Ferraris and Corvettes). However, the recent offenders are as follows:

1. The Smart Car: Who cares if it is environmentally friendly and gets good gas mileage. It's damn ugly and looks like a death trap.

2. Scion xb: I saw these all over California. I thought they were "lowered" until I realized they were made that way. Ugh.

3. PT Cruiser: Nothing needs to be said about this car, except maybe "UGGGLY."

4. Dodge Magnum: This car reminds me of a souped up hearse.

Honorable mention: the Dodge Caliber

Dani, looks like you win. The prize will be another Aisy mixed CD. I agree that most all Dodge vehicles are on the list of "damn, that's ugly."

So, here is my short list. What's yours?

I'm on the waiting list for a Smart Car!

The fact that people like you don't like the Scion xB is part of its attraction.

anything made by dodge, chevy, ford, gmc, chrysler, buick, pontiac....

basically, any american car. it is the design kiss of death. i don't know how they could go from such great designs in the 40-70's to such disgust now.

the germans and japanese kill the american-automobile aesthetic.

aislinn, don't hate on the smart car. it is a bold move. it says,"i don't care about looks, i'm interested in pragmatics"

ohh anonymous... what a burn! i think i'll cry myself to sleep that someone like me doesn't like those ugly ass cars.

face, good on you but i think they're ugly... despite pragmatics (david). ah well. like i said, we all have our own taste, those are just ones i hate.

Well I've always liked small cars and I miss my old (67) Mini. The new model that will be widely available is a bit better looking.

Here's a car that would look good on you.

Aisy,

I agree with some of your selections. I actually like the Smart Car. It's impractical for anyone with kids, but I see the value of the gas mileage. Pretty soon, people will have to cash out their work 401Ks to put gas in their cars to get them to work.

But I love the Dodge Magnum. I think it looks like a modified Bat Mobile.

I am cracking up at the first anonymous comment. Weirdo.

I don't mind the Smart car too much. I think they are actually supposed to be really safe and hey, if you only need a little car to zip around in, it seems like a good option.

I think the PT Cruiser should take top honours though.

Looking forward to my CD!

There are tons of smart cars out here in socialist, tree hugging, la la land (Canada's version). I don't mind them really, and they don't take up a lot of space. I agree with the rest of your list - they are butt-ugly - ESPECIALLY the Scion xb. Was anonymous just trying to yank your chain?

Congrats on a successful trathlon

rocky, it could have been someone trying to yank my chain but if so, it was a weak attempt.

and thank you! maybe i'll post some pics of me in the "hot" wetsuit. they don't look good on anyone!

dani, i'll get my mixin' mojo going and get it in the mail. thanks for playing.

ange, really, you like the magnum?

As a former owner of a 'Vette and briefly, an H1 Hummer, I question how your parents failed so miserably in the car appreciation aspect of your early development. Must have been the diesel Suburban.

I drove a PT Cruiser for three weeks and it was okay for a cheapie car. Don't know why you and your sistah are so hostile. Did you like that Saturn link?

aisy said...

yeah, i couldn't decide if you put the link there for amusement or you really thought i'd look good in it.... the pt cruiser's are just ugly pops, and as for the other mentioned vehicles well, they just scream "look at me." should we mention why you only owned the vette briefly? perhaps it was impractical... i will never forget being locked in it while mom ran an errand that took much longer than expected. i decided to get out but instead the alarm went off and the door would not open. talk about mortifying as people walked by and i couldn't do a damn thing.

at least you've raised us to have good taste, even if we differ on what that sometimes is!
